Look at the Palestinian Prisoners

Hassan Mortazavi

Summary: Impassioned plea from inside Iran, from the translator of Marx’s Capital and other works — Editors

Look at the Palestinian prisoners who have been released: Two boys, 15 and 16 years old, who were imprisoned for the first time at 5 and 6 years old and since then have been imprisoned several times, a mother with a facial injury who was prevented from receiving treatment, and a teenager who suffered brain and leg injuries and was in hospital and house arrest for years. A man who didn’t recognize his family even when he was released due to being in solitary confinement for a long time, and dozens of teenagers who were in prison for several years since they were children and were released these last few days. What happened to children’s rights in all this time?

How did the whole civilized world accept this disgrace with dishonor? The facts that have been revealed in just these few days from the terrible prisons of Israel should shame all of humanity.

In the words of our sweet friend Habib Sai, “There are moments when being alive is the same as being a murderer, being an accomplice. As if blood drips from our fingers. Because we’re complicit, you won’t want it, in a world that goes like this. No matter how hard you try, shout wherever you can, nothing will reduce the weight you feel on your conscience.”
