Los Angeles A World in Crisis: Marxist-Humanists Respond

Sunday, June 17
6:30-8:30 PM

Westside Peace Center
3916 Sepulveda Blvd., near Venice Blvd. (free parking in rear)
Suite 101-102, press #22 at door to get into building

This meeting will feature four presentations on the upsurge of racism, xenophobia, misogyny, the threat of war, and the destruction of the environment. These threats to our very existence have emerged in an era of reactionary politics, both in the US and internationally.  How are movements for human liberation responding to these threats? What are the responsibilities of Marxist-Humanists this year, on the 60th anniversary of the publication of Raya Dunayevskaya’s MARXISM AND FREEDOM?

Speakers:

Kevin B. Anderson, UC-Santa Barbara professor; writer on Marx and global issues
Rocio Lopez, Latina feminist antiwar activist
Mariah Brennan Clegg, ecological Marxist
Lilia Monzó, Chapman University Professor; writer on Marxism and women of color

Sponsored by the West Coast Chapter, International Marxist-Humanist Organization
