[Los Angeles] US (Im)migration and Racial-Colonial Capitalism: A Conversation

  • Lilia D. Monzó, author of “A Revolutionary Subject: Pedagogy of Women of Color and Indigeneity”
  • Martha Sanchez, community activist

Other speakers TBA

IMHO-LA presents a conversation that places the current social conditions for (im)migrants and those seeking refuge at our borders within the context of a brutal racial-colonial capitalist system. Speakers will address the general concrete conditions for (im)migrants and those seeking entry and assistance in the US, with a greater focus on current events related to Latinx and Haitian communities. Specific issues that may be discussed include undocumented status, deportations, asylum, border patrolling, family separation, detention centers and the prison industrial complex, and previous and current policy.
