Los Angeles Public Reading Group on “Rosa Luxemburg, Women’s Liberation, and Marx’s Philosophy of Revolution”

Continuing on Sunday, June 27, 2021 6-8:00 PM, Los Angeles Time

(We also call attention to our July 10 mini-conference “Dialectics of Race, Class, and Gender: Debating Raya Dunayevskaya’s Intersectional Marxism,” more information here.)

This June 27 session will take up chapter 11, “The Philosopher of Permanent Revolution Creates New Ground for Organization” and the Afterword to the chapter, “Trotsky’s Theory of Permanent Revolution,”  from Raya Dunayevskaya’s classic book, “Rosa Luxemburg, Women’s Liberation, and Marx’s Philosophy of Revolution” (pp. 153-73). Marx’s organizational activity and concepts will be viewed alongside — and in contrast to — those of V.I. Lenin, Rosa Luxemburg, and Leon Trotsky.

With introductory remarks by Andres Magon-Marmol, plebeian XikanIndio Marxist, and Logan L, UCSB student activist

About the series:

We began meeting biweekly in fall 2020 to read Marxist and feminist philosopher Raya Dunayevskaya’s classic book, “Rosa Luxemburg, Women’s Liberation, and Marx’s Philosophy of Revolution.”  We are now nearing the end this series, but newcomers are always welcome as each session is self-contained.

Book can be accessed here: https://thecharnelhouse.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Raya-Dunayevskaya-Rosa-Luxemburg-Womens-Liberation-and-Marxs-Philosophy-of-Revolution.pdf
