The photos and videos on the 55th day of the Haft Tappeh workers’ strike speak for themselves. On Saturday, August 8, 2020; after 55 days’ worth of resistance in the hot weather of Shoosh in Khouzestan, where the temperature reaches 120 degrees Fahrenheit on top of the second wave of the COVID-19 attack, the delegation from parliament, official journalists, and the Friday-prayer Imam representative have arrived along with their repressive forces. However, workers have decided to stay to the end and win this battle.

In the last few days, the workers of Haft Tappeh have heard the supportive voices of workers of Hepco, Southern Pars, Gheshm Refinery, Abadan Refinery, Kangan Refinery, Southern Pars Refineries phases 14, 22, and 24, Parsian Refinery, Lamard Petrochemical Company, Uromia Bus Company, Mahshahr Refinery, Isfahan Refinery, a Power Plant in Bidkhoon, Toos Asphalt company, Petrochemical site in Asalooye, a Power Plant in Mashhad and Tabriz. The workers from Haft Tappeh now know they are not alone.

These workers have found out that their situation is very similar to the situation of other workers in Iran. The working class is the victim of the Iranian capitalist system. The workers create wealth and accumulate capital for the employers, but they have been deprived of a minimal, simple human life and their situation has gotten worse day by day. On top of that, they did not receive their salary for four months and their health insurance has been cancelled.

This is the struggle of 25,000 of people in Shoosh against a minority of “lying thug” capitalists who claim they represent Allah (the Muslim god) and Islamic Sharia Law. In addition to the workers’ union giving their support to Haft Tappeh’s employees, these workers have found out that even retired teachers and students are joining them, implying that they are not alone in the battle. If all the strikes connect to each other like a chain, the inhuman Islamic Republic system will collapse. That is why government officials have mobilized to stop the movement of the Haft Tappeh workers. This movement will proceed in spite of it. According to Iranian workers, the system must be ended once and for all.
