Frantz Fanon (1926-61) is widely considered one of the most important theorists of the twentieth century on race, racism, and colonialism. There is a rebirth of interest in his revolutionary humanist ideas today, in light of how his work on the social and psychological impact of being denied recognition due to racism and colonialism speaks to ongoing struggles against police abuse, immigrant bashing, and social inequality. This talk will address how Fanon’s early writings (such as BLACK SKIN, WHITE MASKS) as well as later ones (such as THE WRETCHED OF THE EARTH) connect to today’s struggles.  Copies of the book will be available for signing.

In addition to FRANTZ FANON, Peter Hudis is the author of MARX’S CONCEPT OF THE ALTERNATIVE TO CAPITALISM and the general editor of the COLLECTED WORKS OF ROSA LUXEMBURG.
