Description: Despite the reactionary Dobbs decision by the Trumpist US Supreme Court, reproductive rights victories are being won in Latin America, and now in Kansas. This meeting will allow us to reflect on the present moment, on the nature of these struggles, and on where we go from here.

Melinda Lavon is a midwife and advocate for health care access in Kansas. As the chair of the Vote No Kansas campaign, she organized across Kansas to defeat the anti-abortion amendment which was on the ballot on August 2nd. Melinda is the membership chair of the Lawrence DSA and works closely with the Kansas Democratic Party.

Laura Bennetts is a physical therapist and social activist who works to improve health care access. She joined the Vote No Kansas campaign to help coordinate the distribution of Vote No signs and other materials statewide. She also participated in door-to-door outreach, literature drops, poll watching and calling to get out the vote.

Rocío Lopez is a socialist Feminist and has lived in Latin America and Japan. She writes for the International Marxist Humanist and is also part of the Transnational Solidarity Network.
