Campus Marxist-Humanists have been holding a study group the last few weeks on Marx’s landmark 1844 essay, “Alienated Labor.” The discussions have connected Marx’s critique of capitalism to ongoing problems and events, from barista work and sexism on the job, to the fight for Palestine and against fascism. All of these have been connected to the nature of capitalism itself, a system that alienates workers from both the products of our labor and our very being as creative shapers of our human environment. At this meeting, participants will recount and reflect on their discussions and insights up to now.

 

Speakers will include

Paul Kim, philosopher and student activist, and the students Frida Ding and Mira Kachin
